Mumbai: Encounter specialist Daya Nayak saves minor from being sold

Mumbai, Mar 28 (TNN): A couple was arrested for allegedly trying to sell the wife's 12-year-old sister for Rs 70,000.

Following a tip-off, a special squad, formed by additional commissioner of police Vishwas Nangre-Patil and led by encounter specialist Daya Nayak, arrested Mohammad Darzi and his wife Samina accepting an advance of Rs 5,000 outside Andheri (W) railway station on Monday. Mohammad Idreshi, 22, who was the couple's agent, has also been arrested.

On March 24, members of the NGO, Indian Rescue Nation, posing as businessmen from south India scouting for teenaged girls, got in touch with Idreshi. While Idreshi contacted Darzi and Samina, the NGO tipped off the police and helped them set a trap.

The couple brought the 12-year-old girl to Mumbai from her hometown in West Bengal. Samina lied to her parents that she would admit her sister in a school in Mumbai and also find her a job.

"Around 9pm on Monday, the NGO members met Idreshi outside Andheri station. Idreshi showed them a picture of Samina's sister. After they okayed the 'deal', Idreshi demanded an advance of Rs 5,000," a police officer said. Idreshi even advised the "clients" to take the girl to Pune as it was less risky there compared to Mumbai.

When Darzi and Samina brought the girl at 11.45pm, the police arrested them. Darzi, Samina and Idreshi were booked for kidnapping and selling the girl for prostitution. They have been remanded in police custody till April 4.

    Nayak have shoot at site: who ever kidnapper.

    Good Job: but publishing one person in the new i don't think it is right, because in India there are many honest police officers saving everyday many innocent children and public from the danger.

    Mr. Daya Nayak is a sincere, loyal and able Officer. Wherever, however, whatever may be the situation and consequense, he was, is and would continue good work. I know this perfect sincere officer very well. He doesnt require ant mention or certificate from anyone and he is not after laurels and praises. Great person , Great Work. Hats off to you Sir.

    Not a Good work Mr.Daya Nayak... it is very good and wonderful job... you saved one innocent's life and ...please give a tuff punishment for all of them...who inculed in this racket...people believd elder sister means same like a mother but here she is not sister...killer... throwing her own sister to hell...

    Of course this criminal incident would have been a picnic had it involved an officer other than our Daya Nayak who will now actually take them on a very long sightseeing tour. Just wait and watch. Thank you, Mr. Daya Nayak for rescuing the little angel from going to hell on earth.

    If sources are to be believed samina herself is minor wife . They can easily file a cross complaint against police and ngo citing harrasement against Minor , unless untill proved in court about sell off. Chances are also that she is brought as house labour ( which is legal if she 14 plus ) and also for child marriage ( in this case only pcma charges can apply ). People should be more aware of their rights against police as kidnapping and human trafficking clauses are often misused. Police can book anyone under human trafficking even if they are on tour. I think more directive and elaboration of this word in need of hour.

    ..Soon, case will find new turn..Suspects will allege that they came for picnic & police caught them without any reason,Police dept is biased so on,these kind of activities prohibited in our community..then one or two constables head will role..story continues as usuals..
