Kundapur, Mar 27: The department of police in the taluk is often criticized for listless functioning in the face of increasing cases of theft. Added to this, a complaint of theft was lodged against some policemen by a resident of Kalligudde, Vakwady in the taluk.
It is said that six policemen had raided the home of Kalligudde Prakash Achar in Vakwady village at around 7.30 pm on Monday March 25, and conducted extensive search for illicit liquor. However, the raid proved futile, it is said. At the time of the raid, wife of Prakash Achar, Pushpalatha, an eighteen-month old child, and Achar’s mother, were present at home.
The family members said that they checked out the almirahs after the policemen left, and found to their dismay that a golden Karimani chain weighing 21.5 grams had gone missing from the steel almirah.
Reportedly, local deputy superintendent of police, Yashoda Sunil Vantagodi, has received a complaint against the policemen involved with the above raid.
