Hassan: Six killed as tanker smashes into ambulance

Hassan, Mar 26: Six persons were killed in a tragic accident that took place near Channarayapatna here on Tuesday March 26.

The deceased have been identified as Jessy (40), her husband Sajikumar (45), a lottery agent from Kasargod, Eldos Mathew (50), also from Kasargod, Sumanth (22), Ravindra (24) and Shekar (24), a resident of Sakleshpur.
Another person, identified as Hariprasad (48) from Kasargod was admitted to a hospital in Hassan. His condition is said to be critical. He is an auto driver in Kanhangad.
The accident took place when a tanker collided head-on with an ambulance that was on its way to Mangalore from Puttaparthi in Andhra Pradesh. The tanker was plying from Mangalore to Bangalore.
Jessy was a diabetes patient and was undergoing treatment in a hospital in Mangalore earlier. Sometime back, she was taken to Sai Baba Hospital in Andhra Pradesh, where doctors told her to shift to Bangalore for better treatment. However, before going to Bangalore, the family decided to conduct some more tests in Mangalore as she was undergoing treatment there. It was when the family were bringing her to Mangalore by ambulance when tragedy struck.
The bodies are expected to be taken to Kasargod by night.
