Islamabad, March 24 (IANS): Twelve Pakistani soldiers succumbed to injuries Sunday, taking the death toll in a suicide attack in the tribal northwest to 17, the media reported.
Dunya TV said a suicide bomber rammed his explosive laden vehicle into a check post jointly held by the Pakistan Army and Frontier Constabulary, a paramilitary force, in North Waziristan Saturday night.
The blast killed five soldiers and injured over 30, Xinhua reported.
The injured soldiers were shifted to a nearby hospital where 12 of them succumbed to injuries Sunday, said the report.
Some media reports said the check post was located near the army barracks which were levelled to ground following the blast.
No group claimed responsibility for the attack.
The incident happened in Miran Shan area, a tribal area located at the Pakistan-Afghan border.
