UPA ministers meet Karunanidhi on Lankan Tamils issue

Chennai, Mar 18 (PTI): Amid threat to pull out DMK ministers and quit the UPA coalition on the Sri Lankan Tamils issue, party chief M Karunanidhi today made a fresh demand insisting that Parliament adopt a resolution incorporating the two amendments he had suggested to the government to be moved on the US-backed resolution at the UNHRC.

Making a brief statement after his talks with Government emissaries-- AK Antony, P Chidamabram and Ghulam Nabi Azad, Karunanidhi claimed that the Union Ministers assured him that his demands would be met.

"I tell you this on the belief that they have given me an assurance," he said.

After their two and a half hour talks with the DMK chief, who had threatened to pull out of UPA if his demand on the amendments was not conceded to, Azad said they (ministers) will report back to the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.

"We discussed threadbare the contents of Mr Karunanidhi's letter to the Prime Minister and UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi," Azad told reporters after emerging from the meeting held at Karunanidhi's CIT Colony residence.

Karunanidhi had yesterday said he felt "let down" by the "lukewarm" response of the Centre.

One of the amendments was to "declare that genocide and war crimes had been committed and inflicted on the Eelam Tamils by the Sri Lankan army and the administrators."

The second one was "establishment of a credible and independent international commission of investigation in a time bound manner into the allegations of war crimes, crimes against humanity, violations of international human rights law, violations of international humanitarian law and crime of genocide against the Tamils."

Karunanidhi said Parliament should adopt the resolution incorporating these two amendments.

To a question, he said if whatever his party had desired for Sri Lankan Tamils (such as the amendments) came true, their (Tamils) 'tension' would come to an end.
After threatening to withdraw his ministers from the Centre, Karunanidhi, whose party has 18 Lok Sabha MPs, went a step further warning that his party will pull out altogether from the ruling alliance if it failed to move amendments to the US-sponsored resolution which will come up for voting at the United Nations Human Rights Council at Geneva on March 21.

Joining her arch rival Karunanidhi, Chief Minister Jayalalithaa demanded that the government take "historic" and "courageous" steps to move amendments to the US-backed resolution to "assuage the deeply hurt sentiments" of people.

"To assuage the legitimate sense of outrage and deeply hurt sentiments, it is absolutely important that India takes a strong stand in support of the US-sponsored resolution in the 22nd Session of the UN Human Rights Council and more importantly moves necessary independent amendments to further strengthen the resolution," she said in a letter to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.

She also recalled that she had earlier twice taken up with him, including in person, the need for New Delhi to take up the issue of war crimes and slapping economic sanctions on Sri Lanka till Tamils were fully resettled.

Time has come to keep Corrupt DMK out of UPA allaince. UPA should take out side support and represent Tamil issue directly with SriLankan government and surely diplomacy will prevail. It is important that we deal with our neighbour wisely. It is better DMK & Anna DMK mind their own business and not to interfere into another country's affairs.

In Mahabharata, The King of Hastinapur, Dhritarashtra controlled entire Kingdom, though he was blind by birth. Here Karunanidhi too tries to control the UPA Government in vain. But for that matter Sonia Madam now became Master in Indian Politics since she knows very well how to control these thugs. Like Srikrishna did in Mahabharata War, he always tried once with “Sandhaan” and his next step was direct war. So, here Soniaji too will take out her ultimate weapon by tightening the screw around their neck by calling CBI to expedite the pending cases against them. Karunanidhi’s reaction now is natural since Apex Court convinced that Kanimozhi transferred Rs 200 Crores to Kalaignar TV. The agency is probing Kanimozhi and others on the basis of FIR filed by the CBI in connection with the alleged channeling of Rs. 200 crore to DMK family-run Kalaignar TV through a circuitous route.

Involvement in neighboring countries internal affairs has taken lives of our 2 great prime ministers.
Late P.M. Rajiv Gandhi was killed by LTTE for trying to end conflict between Tamils & Sri Lanka.
Late P.M. Indira Gandhi, helped Bangla Desh to separate from Pakistan.
Pakistan in turn encouraged Khalistan movement to separate from India.
Her efforts to suppress Khalistan movement, Indira Gandhi's life was lost.
Many wars fought with Pakistan didn't end hostilities but only increased.
Respectable P.M. A.B. Vajpayee tried his best to be friend of Pakistan. Situation somewhat improved but again fallen back.

Lankans are peace loving and innocent people. These Tamilians have attitude problem. They are egoistic, fanatic, chaotic, self-centric. Wherever these tamilians go, they don't respect others land, language, culture. They want their language to dominate in other state and country. Tamilians are migrants in shrilanka. They need to learn co-existence in other countries and state. Tamilians are hated everywhere due to their dirty attitude.
