PSI killed while discharging duty in Goa

Panaji, Mar 17: Goa Police have registered a complaint of murder against the driver after he ran over a sub inspector, who was stopping him for a regular checking near Bethora Industrial Estate.

Police sub inspector Abhishekh Gomes, working with Ponda Traffic Cell, died due to fatal injuries after the truck ran over him. The incident happened this morning when Gomes was on a duty to check the vehicles passing by Bethora Industrial Estate.

Chief minister Manohar Parrikar, who visited the house of deceased officer, told reporters that a case of murder has been registered against the driver. “Of course it is a murder. The truck driver ran over the officer who was discharging his duty,” Parrikar said.

 The truck which is registered in Punjab was carrying the goods. The truck driver fled from the scene, police said.
