Panaji, Mar 15: The Goa Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) today warned to take the state government to the State Human Rights Commission accusing them of discriminating the minority community while implementing the social security schemes.

NCP Goa Chief Spokesman Trojano D’Mello accused that BJP-led government was giving second class treatment to the minority community members, which is clearly indicated in the replies procured under Right to Information from the state departments.

D’Mello claimed that state government’s flagship Ladli Lakshmi and Grih Adhar schemes were being diverted only to the non-minority applicants, creating rift between the communities.

The NCP leader said that of the total 15890 beneficiaries under Grih Adhar scheme, which gives monthly Rs 1,000 for housewives, only 3,000 are from the minority community.

“This amounts to hardly 16 percent of the total benefit being given to the minority community,” he said, adding that in case of Ladli Lakshmi scheme, which gives Rs 1 lac for marriage of a girl, the benefit is only up to 12 percent.
