New Delhi, Mar 14 (IANS): The government is reviewing the Consumer Protection Act to make it more effective and strengthen the machinery to address complaints, Minister of State for Consumer Affairs K.V. Thomas said here Thursday.
"The government gives very high priority to consumer protection and it is taking all steps to further strengthen consumer grievance redressal fora. The Consumer Protection Act is being reviewed to make it more effective," said.
He was addressing the conference of the presidents of state commissions and secretaries in-charge of consumer affairs.
The department of consumer affairs was exploring the possibility of producing tele-serials educating consumers of their rights and responsibilities, said the minister.
