Srinagar, Mar 13 (IANS): Seven people, including five paramilitary Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) troopers, were killed, and seven others injured Wednesday when terrorists attacked a CRPF camp here. Two guerrillas were also killed in the attack, police said.
A senior police officer told IANS: "Militants attacked a CRPF camp in Bemina area of Srinagar city this morning. There was fierce exchange of gunfire, and two militants were killed. Five CRPF troopers were martyred."
"Seven others -- three civilians and four CRPF personnel -- were also injured in the gunfight," the police official said, adding that the injured were undergoing treatment.
"The area has been cordoned off and searches are going on to sanitise the area," the police official said.
This is the first guerrilla attack in the city this year.
So far, no group has claimed responsibility for the attack.
