Mapusa, Mar 8: On the occasion of the golden jubilee of Goa’s Liberation, Tiatr Academy Goa will stage a special programme entitled 'Svotontr Gõyant Tiatrachi Udorgot'.
The cultural programme will highlight the development of tiatr during the 50 years of Goa’s Liberation. This unique presentation will be staged on March 10 at 7 pm at the Vasco (St Andrews Church compound), March 11 at 7 pm at Kala Academy Panjim (Open Air Auditorium) and on March 12 at 3.30 p.m. at Hanuman Theatre Mapusa.
'Svotontr Gõyant Tiatrachi Udorgot' is conceptualized and directed by Tomazinho Cardozo. In the liberated Goa, Tiatr has developed through theatrical activities organized by the people at the village level, commercial artistes at the state level and by amateurs tiatr artistes at the Kala Academy level.
Besides songs or kantaram have played an important role in the development of tiatr. Tomazinho Cardozo has taken all these aspects into consideration while writing the script of this programme.
No feast in Goa is complete without staging a tiatr. These tiatrs were staged by the villagers. This activity has created a lot of new and fresh talents and put a strong foundation for the development of tiatr. Commercial Tiatr artistes have staged their tiatrs not only in Goa but also in almost all parts of the world where Goans have settled by staging their tiatrs thereby helping in the growth of the tiatr.
Since 1974, Kala Academy’s yearly tiatr festival have seen numerous innovations and experimentation on tiatr staged which helped in developing tiatr scientifically. 'Svotontr Gõyant Tiatrachi Udorgot’ attempts to showcase these happenings through songs (Kantaram) and scenes from trend setting tiatrs of the past.
The programme features popular artistes of tiatr stage besides award winning artistes of Tomazinho Cardozo’s cultural troupe ‘Kala Mogi Candolim. The show will also feature winners of King Fishers’s Voice of Goa and SOAD 3 International - Queeny Fernandes and Akash Telgu.
The stage setting is by Timothy Dias, Light effects and background music by Vikas Chopddekar and the music is provided by Luis Cota. There are no tickets and the admission is free.
