Oscar winning 'Life of Pi' movie's Mangalore connection

Mangalore, Mar 8: That the Oscar winning movie 'Life of Pi' revolves around the story of an Indian boy is common knowledge, and so too is the movie's actual connection with India. But few know that a Mangalorean too had played a part in the making of the movie that won four Academy Awards.
He is H Gautam, son of Nayana Kumar and Sudha from Bejai.
Gautam pursued his primary education here and left for Bangalore where he did his BSc in animation from Manipal university. Later for 3 years he worked for Rhythm and Hues, a film making company in Hyderabad and presently holds the post of a director of environmental design engineering.
In 'Life of Pi' movie, he was the director for visual effects in simulating environment. He was also the technical lighting director for ‘Alvin and the Chipmunks: Chipwrecked’ movie.
