Kundapur, Mar 6: The high court on Wednesday March 6 granted bail to Subramanya Udupa, an accused in the murder case of RTI activist Vasudeva Adiga in January this year.
During the hearing on Tuesday March 5, the public prosecutor had opposed bail to Udupa on the grounds that the investigation in the case was still in progress, and that his release may hamper the investigation. The hearing was adjourned to Wednesday.
On Wednesday, a single bench of the high court granted bail to Udupa, on a surety bond of Rs 2 lac and signatures by two witnesses.
Advocates B V Acharya and Jagannath Alva represented Udupa.
It may be recalled that Adiga was kidnapped on January 7 and found murdered in Kadur, Chikmagalur five days later. Seven persons including his neighbour Ramesh Bayari, the main accused, and Subramanya Udupa were arrested over a period of several days and remanded in custody.
