Kasargod: Providential escape for chidren, driver as bus rolls onto rail track

Kasargod, Mar 5: Students of a school here had providential escape when their school bus plunged on to the railway track just minutes before they could board it.
The incident outside Dhakheerath English Medium Higher Secondary School at Thalangara here on Tuesday March 5.
It is said that the driver of the bus had parked the vehicle outside the school compound and gone inside to bring the children.
While he was away, the parked bus moved backwards as the handbrake was not in position, and rolled down the slope, plunging about 50 ft on to the railway track below.
Luckily, as neither the students nor the driver had boarded the bus, it was empty and no was hurt.
However, the accident caused some disruption in movement of trains for about half-an-hour.
Fire personnel and town police arrived at the spot and cleared the way. The children were sent by another school bus.
