Shame: Cops thrash girl who sought their help

Watch Video (courtesy: NDTV)

Amritsar, Mar 4 (PTI):
A 22-year-old girl and her father were allegedly thrashed by policemen when they sought action against some persons who teased the girl and passed vulgar comments in full public view in Tarn Taran district.

"It is unfortunate on the part of the police to hit a girl," said SSP Kanwaljit Singh Dhillon, adding that he had placed both Davinder Singh and Saraj Singh under suspension and marked a departmental inquiry against the duo.

However, the officer said that father of the girl, Kashmir Singh was drunk and creating "nuisance" at a marriage function at Gobindwal road last night.

When police personnel reached the spot and caught hold of Kashmir, his daughter resisted, the SSP said.

Kashmir's daughter Harbinder Kaur intervened and resisted while her father was being taken away to police station, the SSP said.

In the melee, the turbans (head gears) of two head constables were tossed up following which they beat the girl.

However, the girl in her complaint alleged that last night, while she along with her father was coming home after attending a marriage function a truck driver and his accomplices started to tease her besides passing vulgar comments.

When she and her father approached the nearby police picket, both were beaten up by the policemen on duty, who allegedly let off the accused after accepting bribe, the girl alleged in her complaint.

Reshma, congrats on your superb writing. But can you or anyone tell as to what happens after so many complaints are written. Suspension only? for how many days or hours? Yet on TV programs their chiefs come and protect them. Do they have a God? a family, where, their state too can be same? What does the GOI do? only sit and watch or stand and talk? Sad.

This is the result of rampant corruption which has led total absence of discipline in the police force. Such inhuman and atrocious incidents are bound to happen as long as there is no fear of superiors and no respect for law and order among the policemen. They are well aware that corruption and injustice exist at the top level which has them to this "don't care" and "chalta hai" attitude. A total revamping of the police force is the need of the hour. The character and background of would be recruits need to be verified thoroughly. This will be possible only when states will have HMs & IGPs of the caliber and integrity of Julio Ribeiro, Kiran Bedi and Daya Nayak.

Panjabi use dirty words every single minute when they speak to somebody even they doesn’t care if family members are in the middle. You imagine what language they use when they are under the influence of alcohol? First they cry “”chad de chad de”” Afterwards “Lad de Lad de”This is very common in that state!!!!Any way law must be respected. These brain frozen police must be terminated.

Watch the video clearly. The girl was equally arrogant with cop and was trying to hitting him. Public sympathises with women beaters , i wonder if cop was a female , it would not have been a 'issue' itself. Clear Misandry!. Infact now cop should file case against this girl citing ' interefering or abusing a on duty officer' that can set example.

    Dear Citizens of India,

What's Happening ? Whom do we seek protection from?

Is the word "Police" a body of Civil security or of Brutality ???

If the Drunk Kashmir Singh was creating nuisance, there should have been a crowd around affected by the nuisance?
If the so called "Police" Davinder Singh and Saraj Singh were beating up Harbinder Kaur because she and her father, whom she was trying to save from being trashed, had man-handled the Head-gear (turbans) of the duo, How come the video shows the police with thier Turbans intact.....????

Fellow citizens, We have daughters and sons and we too survive with them in this society.....

We pay taxes to sum up as a part of the salary paid to Civil Security...........

Are people in Khakhi to be feared from????

There are several Jawans laying out thier life for us from Foreign terrors....My Humble Salutes to them !!!!
But Who will save us in our own Country, from our own People????

It is utter shame on cops and that is why Indian police need urgent reforms. Indian police are bringing shame to the country as they are not trained adequately to behave with general public. Kiran Bedi has highlighted several times to bring in urgent reforms and revamp police departments.

If you have watched properly I don’t see anything wrong in fact the women is not moving and daring police to make such drama only she left when police used lathi and we don’t know further anything. These days’ women have taken too many advantages because of the situations happening around. They know either way to take the opportunities but it’s not always so.

Every time they are cornered, the Police have a story to tell to defend themselves. But the trouble is those stories do not even come close in substance to those told to us by our grandmothers when we were kids and nobody believes them. But being hapless citizens of this great country, we give the stick to them and get beaten up.

OUR SYSTEM IS SO PATHETIC. AS KRISHNA SAID, MANY OF THEM ARE ANIMALS AND VULTURES. THEY CAN DO ANYTHING, I MEAN ANYTHING, ANY CRIME, BEAT SOME ONE, RAPE SOME ONE, BEAT TO DEATH, SHOOT TO DEATH.
    MAXIMUM PUNISHMENT WILL BE......
    SUSPENSION FOR SOME TIME.

IF ANY POLITICIAN MAKES A SCAM, OPPOSITION ASKS THE "ANY" RULING PARTY TO RESIGN.

SAME WAY WE SHOULD ASK THE POLICE CHIEF TO RESIGN IN SUCH ACTS.

HERE IS THE ROOT CAUSE OF EVERY CRIME AND ALMOST 99% OF THE CRIME HAPPENS ONLY BECAUSE OF POLICE FAVOURING THE CRIMINALS PUNISHING THE SUFFERER AND LETING OFF THE CRIMINALS TO CHALLENGE THEIR POWER FORGETTING ABOUT MORAL DUTIES FOR SOME FAVOUR OR THE OTHER.
FOR SUCH POLICE PUNISHMENT SHOULD BE DOUBLE BECAUSE THEY DO THE CRIME KNOWING THE LEGAL POINTS.

This is not just a shame but a double shame to the cops. They have not taken the complaint of the father and daughter, thrashed them, moreover, let off the accused after taking bribe. The protectors have turned to be the Gundas. They do not deserve to continue in the police Department any more. They should be employed in cooking department where there are more women to get training to behave themselves and respect women.

All these worms in uniform should be stripped to their underpants and then publicly flogged.Actually we do not need a police force at all. This goonda brigade in uniform only sucks the blood of the innocents and provides protection to goons and corrupt politicians. The entire police force in India should be disbanded as they are a disgrace to the nation, probably local level bodies can be formed to protect society and maintain law and order.

I saw that footage of the beating by the so called protectors of law, if not completely surprised, was shocked because inspite of so much of public outcry due to the happenings in recent times, these stupids does not learn their lesson. So, merely keeping them on suspension will not do, they should be terminated and put behind bar. It is simply unacceptable because who do we common people fall back on for our justice?

Police Dept.in India is a very old school. Time has changed but Home Ministry, Law enforcement dept. did not change, it is time they learn. There should be new rules, regulations, discipline, whole system must change. Police training must be changed. Beating up women by Police, in any country is unacceptable. Those officers d are no more required in Police Dept. They must be arrested & punished. Commissioner of Police must learn by mistakes and change whole attitude towards women and people in general.

Such kind of aggressiveness from Police fraternity bring bad repute to the entire police department in the state(Punjab). When police dealing with females utter care should be taken as the debate on atrocities against women is going on in the wake of DELHI 's NIRBHAYA rape and murder case. Some are how accused officers has enough excuses for their inhuman gestures against father and daughter which be should be condemned by civilized society. They should be dismissed from the service pending comprehensive investigation from the appropriate authority.
