Mumbai, Mar 4: St Joseph’s Tamil Association and St Joseph’s Konkani Welfare Association, Mira Road jointly organized ‘The Blood donation Camp’ in assoication with Bhakti Vedanta Hospital, Mira road (E) and Sarala Blood Bank, on March 3 at Infant Jesus Hall of St Joseph’s Church, Mira Road.
Fr Dominic Vas, parish priest and spiritual director of both associations inaugurated the camp with a prayer.
Speaking on the occasion he said that, “in this year of faith, we all Christ’s faithful are obliged to do penance, each one’s own way. Our Cardinal Oswald Gracious in his lenten circular has recommended ‘Donating Blood” as one of works of charity”.
Hence, Fr Dominic gave call to all to participate genourously in the blood donation camp and save lives of sick and suffering.
Hundreds of people queued patiently to donate blood from 8 am to 1 pm. After the medical checkup, 78 people eligible to donate blood, did so.
Dr Rajesh Sonkar and his team gave a presentation on 'Aging and Pnemococcal Disease' (a lecture on Aging Problems) to the participants of Blood Donation Camp.
Dr Freeda Rajan of St Joseph’s Tamil Association welcomed the donors and John Crasta, president of St Joseph’s Konkani Welfare Association thanked the team of Sarala Blood Bank and the blood donors.
