Sandhya Pai awarded doctorate by Karnataka State Women's University

Bijapur, Mar 4: Sandhya Pai, managing editor of 'Taranga' and 'Tushar' magazines, was honoured with doctorate degree along with five others by Karnataka State Women's University during its 4th annual convocation ceremony on Sunday March 3.
Vice-chancellor of the University Dr Meena Chandavarkar conferred the doctorates on Sandhya Pai, chief Justice of Kerala High Court Manjula Chellur, senior politician and social worker Leelaladevi R Prasad, renowned cancer specialist Dr Vijayalakshmi Deshamane, and senior officer Dr Shalini Rajneesh. Another doctorate recipient, speaker of Lok Sabha Meira Kumar, was absent.
On the occasion, 13 women researchers from the University were awarded PhD, 5,848 students with bachelors degrees, and 404 students were awarded masters degrees. As many as 34 toppers in various subjects were awarded 39 gold medals.
Professor G R Naik, registrar, Karnataka State Women's University, Dr Tejavati, registrar (evaluation), along with heads of various departments attended the programme.
Governor and chancellor of the University Hansraj Bhardwaj missed the programme for the third consecutive time.
