Mangalore: Fun outing turns tragic - youngster drowns in Adyapady dam

Mangalore, Mar 2: A fun outing of friends turned tragic here on Saturday March 2 after one of them drowned in the waters of Adyapady dam at Vamanjoor.
The deceased has been identified as Nihal Bangera, son of Keshava and Ratna Bangera, and resident of Barke. He was a first year BBM student of SDM College in the city.
It is said that after exams got over on Saturday, Nihal and his friends decided to celebrate with an outing to Adyapady dam. Accordingly, he and three others left for the dam in two bikes and went swimming.
However, Nihal was caught in the currents and was washed away. Efforts to rescue him went in vain.
Kavoor police rushed to the spot and with the help of the locals, the body was fished out of the water.
The body was later shifted to Wenlock.
Kavoor police have registered a case.
