Mumbai, Feb 28: Jayashrikrishna Parisara Premi Samiti, during its core committee meeting, discussed and expressed its opposition to the Niddodi Power Plant project.

Karnataka chief minister Jagadish Shettar has written a recommendation letter to the union power minister Jyotiraditya Scindia urging establishment of a massive power plant project in Niddodi village in which he states that the village is an appropriate place. The project is jointly collaborated by the state and union government.

The committee has made a firm decision that the twin districts do not require any power plant projects.

The committee also said that when all political parties, district MP, MLA, ministers, Nandikoor Janajagruti Samiti and the whole district had been against the Nagarjuna Power Plant project, only Jayashrikrishna Parisara Premi committee has been supporting Nagarjuna and hence from the past two years Nagarjuna power plant project has been supplying power to the district as well as to the state.

The committee accused that the union government, state government, and Nagarjuna, of cheating the committee as well as Kannadigas of the undivided district. 

“Although people from the district have become chief ministers and power ministers, no concern has been shown towards the issue. Even politicians from the twin districts have not bothered to resolve the pollution caused by Nagarjuna,” said committee founder Jayakrishna Shetty. He also accused the company of not implementing modernized technology which has caused the people to suffer.

Shetty added that the committee will oppose Niddodi project and he requested all party leaders, MPs, MLAs, and other organizations to oppose this project.

This decision was taken by committee representatives consisting of Thonse Jaya Krishna Shetty, Padmabushana Dr B M Hegde, Harish Kumar Shetty, Jagadesh Adhkari, Felix D’Souza, Rons Bantwal, Nithayanda Kotiyan, and I R Shetty.
