Mangalore: Three injured in hit-and-run accident, culprits escape

Mangalore, Feb 27: In a hit-and-run case that occured near Patel House, Nagori here on Wednesday February 27, three persons were injured while the culprits managed to escape.
An auto rickshaw was ferrying two lady passengers from Kankanady railway station towards the city, when a speeding Indica Vista car moving from B C Road to Mangalore rammed into it.
The impact of the accident was such that the auto rickshaw got thrown into a roadside ditch, injuring the passengers as well as the auto driver.
The Indica car, however, sped away without stopping. Angered by this, people who were at the spot began chasing the vehicle.
The occupants of the car, frightened by the people's reaction, sped towards Garodi, where they took a left turn into a lane. However, it was a dead end and they were forced to stop. The four of them got out from the car and escaped by the time people reached the spot.
The four, all young men, are said to be students. They are yet to be identified.
The injured, whose identities are yet to be established, have been admitted to a hospital in the city. They are said to be badly hurt.
Inspector Ravish Naik of Kankanady rural police visited the spot.
