Panaji: DKA to organize condolence meet for Fr Antonio Gomes and Prabhakar Tendulkar on Feb 28

Panaji, Feb 25:  Dalgado Konknni Akademi (DKA) will be organizing a condolence meet for its ex-President and ex-Treasurer  Canon Fr Antimo Gomes and Prabhakar Tendulkar respectively, on Feburary 28 Thursday at 4:45 pm. in the Tiatr Academy Goa’s Conference Hall, Campal, Panaji. 

Fr Antimo Gomes who was appointed as the canon in the Goa Cathedral chapter had served as a secretary of the Diocesan Board of Education and an ex-Principal of St Xavier’s College Mapusa.  He also served as a parish priest of Immaculate Church, Panaji.

Prabhakar Tendulkar, a fighter for Goan identity, founder Treasurer of DKA and the editor of now defunct “Gõykar” a weekly in Konkani in Roman script expired on February 16,  after a prolonged illness at his residence in Mapusa.

Prabhakar Tendulkar actively participated in the promotion of Konkani in Roman script since the Portuguese era when he was editing the Konkani section of the newspaper “A Vanguarda”. As he had a printing press he printed hundreds of books in Konkani in Roman scripts and helped the writers of Konkani  in the Roman script.

All are invited to attend the condolence meet.
