She was addressing her presidential address during the valedictory programme of eighth literature-cultural convention on the subject ‘Women and Culture’ organized by Karnataka Sangha, Mumbai, under the aegis of Kannada Samskrithka department in Vishweshwaraiah Convention hall recently.
“We cannot win by arguments; we can easily win with love. Turn towards peace and love. According to universal law, all men and women are equal,” she said. Condemning the recent cases of rape she said, “It is really matter of shame that our lawyers come forward and argue in support of culprit”.
On this occasion, Priyathama, Prakash J Burde, Arun Kumar, Sanjeeva K were honoured with Sadhana Shikara award for their service in different fields.
Organization president Dr G D Joshi briefed about the activities of the organization.
Honourary secretary Dr Bharath Kumar Polipu compered and thanked; honourary treasurer Omdas Kannagar welcomed.
Abhilasha Udupi, Dr B M Puttayya, Dr Shailaja Hiremutt and Amitha Bhagawath presented essays during various sessions.
Dr T R Chandrashekar delivered the valedictory speech.
As part of the entertainment, ‘Drushiya’ Bangalore presented theatre play ‘Basthiya’, directed by Dakshayini, written by Mohanchandra.
