Kundapur: Mission marriage - Girl runs away with gold, Rs 4 lac cash

Kundapur, Feb 20: Even as concerns are being raised about missing girls, there are some who willingly choose to leave their homes, especially to get married against the wishes of their parents. In several cases, girls who are reported missing turn up later with their marital status changed.
A similar situation arose near Moolebailu here on Tuesday February 19, but in this case, the girl took care to secure her future financially too!
A 21-year-old girl reportedly ran away from her house after looting 17 sovereigns of gold and Rs 3.95 lac in cash.
The girl is identified as Savitha (21), daughter of Shesha Poojary.
The girl left home at around 7.15 am stating that she would go to the nearby Mahalingeshwar temple and never returned home, said the mother in her complaint.
Later at around 3.30 pm, she called her sister Nagamma’s phone and said that she was getting married. She also asked her family members to not to search for her.
A case has been registered in the Byndoor police station.
