Mangalore: Renovated Jamia Masjid inaugurated at Kudroli

Mangalore, Feb 16: The renovated building of Jamia Masjid at Kudroli, the structure of which is built on the lines of the world famous Jama Masjid at Delhi, was inaugurated here on Saturday February 16.
K Rahman Khan, minister for minority affairs inaugurated the Mosque along with other dignitaries.
Moulana Mufti Mohammed Ashraf Ali Baqavi, member of All India Muslim Personal Law Board and Twaqa Ahmed Musliyar, Qazi of Dakshina Kannada district were the chief guests while K S Mohammed Masood, former MLC and president of Jamia Masjid, Kudroli presided over the function.
Masood is his welcome address briefed on the history of the mosque. "The Jamia mosque was established during the time of Tipu Sultan and has a history of over 150 years. The renovated building of Jamia Masjid was constructed after demolishing two mosques at the same place which were called ‘Jodu Palli’. This was a decision taken by two Jamaths," said Masood, thanking all the people who worked in renovating the Mosque.
"It is a tough task for Muslims to unite two Jamaths and build a mosque in the place," said Rahman Khan, lauding them for the great achievement. "This achievement proves that we can achieve anything only if we wish and work for it," he said.
"We are human beings first, and then Muslims," said Rahman Khan, "We should stop fighting in the name of religion. Unity in diversity is the strength of our nation. Never differentiate people based on their religion. I hope that people benefit from this mosque."
Deputy speaker N Yogish Bhat in his address said the renovated Mosque has added charm to the city. "It is a proud moment for us. Let god bless us to live in peace and harmony by helping others," he said, wishing that this mosque would also help people of the locality in times of need.
