He achieved the swimming feat on February 7, 2011, when he started from St Mary’s Island at 7 am and reached Malpe beach at 2 pm.
What makes this feat more special is that he covered the distance of 13 km despite polio affecting his right leg.
Addressing the media here on Friday February 15, Prakash said that he practices for around two to three hours every day. He had trained for the event for three months.
A fisherman by profession, he said that his father was his inspiration to learn swimming.
He thanked the locals and inspector Mahesh Prasad of Kota police station helped him.
Prakash said, "I completed my studies up to seventh standard and due to poverty in my family, I discontinued my studies and decided to get a government job. We are two boys and three girls in our family and I got married a year ago,” he added.
His goal is to make it to the Guinness Book of World Records next.
