Sullia, Feb 12: On Tuesday February 12, the policemen, who are under pressure to bring to an end the peddling of drugs in the district, succeeded in arresting three persons. These persons have been accused of selling ganja by moving about in a car. 300 grams of ganja, worth about Rs 6,000, three mobile phones, a Maruti WagonR car, and Rs 550 in cash, were confiscated from their possession.
Reportedly, ganja was being brought from Kasargod to the town by the gang for being sold to the students.
The accused have been identified as Teerthaprasad (21) from Devarakali House in the town, Irfan alias Naufal (18) from Gandhinagar Kallumutlu here, and Vinod alias Vinu (23), who resides near the junior college.
The arrests were made by Puttur deputy superintendent of police, Sadanand Varnekar, with the help of police circle inspector, H Sudarshan, and crime branch sub inspector, M N Rao. The policemen said they are on the lookout for another person said to be involved with the racket.
