Dubai : Art, culture, drama, contests blend at 'Vasantotsava'

Dubai, Feb 10: Karnataka Sangha Dubai, under the leadership of its dynamic leader Girish Shetty, started its 27th year in Dubai with 'Vasantotsava', a fun-filled event with spectacular Kannada play 'Hai Bye Dubai', 'Adarsha Dampathi' (Ideal Couple) contest, and other cultural events held on Friday, February 8 at JSS Schook auditorium, Jumairah, Dubai.
The event was inaugurated by Hukkeri Sri Sri Chandrashekara Shivacharya Swamiji by lighting the lamp. Karnataka Sangha president Girish Shetty, general secretary Daya Kirodian, tresaurer Jayanth Shetty, Satish Hegde of Inchara troupe, Herman Lewis of Radio Spice were present during the inauguration event
Daya Kirodian welcomed the gathering.
Inchara troupe headed by Satish Hegde presented 'Hai Bye Dubai', a meaningful drama for the audience of UAE. Actress Shilpa Sudhakar showcased her professional skills and gave full life to the drama along with all other artistes Shashidhar Nagarajappa, Basavaraju, Loyal Pinto, Arshad Hussain, Satish Hegde, Shantaveer, Chandraya, Naveen Bhat and Vinitha Menezes.
The play, wihch was Inchara troupe's maiden show, was written and directed by Satish Hegde.
Adarsha Dampathi contest was co-ordinated by Shashidhar Nagarajappa. The top three prize winning couples were Nagaraja Sherigar couple, Mallikarjuna Gowda couple and Sunil Gavaskar couple.
The art and craft exhibition-cum-contest was also organised during the event. Ganesh Rai was the judge.
Daijiworld, Gulf Kannadiga, Radio Spice and Namma TV were the media partners for the event.
Chandrashekar Sankole Entertainment Secretary proposed the vote of thanks and specially thanked all the sponsors who supported the event.
