Karnataka budget: Brahmavar, Byndoor, Moodbidri get taluk status
Bangalore, Feb 8 (PTI): Karnataka Government today announced creation of 43 new taluks and allocated Rs 86 crore funds for creating infrastructure in them.
Among the new taluks are Brahmavar and Byndoor of Udupi district, and Moodbidri and Kadaba of Dakshina Kannada district.
Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar, who is also in-charge of Finance Department, presenting the 2013-14 budget proposals said "based on reports submitted to the government in the recent years, demand from public and due to geographical factors, it is proposed to create 43 new taluks".
Rs two crore will be provided to each of the new taluk, he said.
New Taluks created are: Guledgudda, Rabakavi-Banahatti, Ilkal (Bagalkot district), Nippani, Moodalgi, Kagwada (Belgaum), Hanoor (Chamarajnagar), Nymathi (Davanagere), Chitaguppa, Hulasur, Kamalanagara (Bidar), Kurugod, Kottur, Kampli (Bellary), Annigeri, Alnavara, Hubli City (Dharwad), Gajendragad, Lakshmeshwar (Gadag), Kalagi, Hunasagi, Kamalapura, Yadravi, Shahabad, Vadagera, Gurumitkal (Gulbarga and Yadgir), Kuknur, Kanakagiri, Karatagi (Koppal), Maski, Sirvar (Raichur); Brahmavar, Byndoor (Udupi), Moodbidri, Kadaba (Dakshina Kannada), Yelahanka (Bangalore Urban), Bableshwar, Nidagundi, Tikota, Devarahippargi, Talikote, Chadachana and Kolhar (Bijapur).
Udupi: Raghupati Bhat welcomes move, thanks CM

Udupi, Feb 8: MLA Raghupati Bhat lauded chief minister Jagadish Shettar for successfully presenting the budget despite all the confusion and controversies leading up to the budget.
Bhat thanked the CM and revenue minister Eshwarappa for declaring Brahmavar as taluk in the new budget, and thereby accepting the demands of the Brahmavar Taluk Formation Committee.
"The CM had assured this move two weeks ago when Udupi district incharge minister Kota Srinivas Poojary, Byndoor MLA Laxminarayan and I had personally met the Cm and forwarded the request."
He added that with this, except for rejuventing Brahmavar sugar factory, all the election promises had been fulfilled by the BJP.
