Mangalore, Feb 6: "Drug mafia in Dakshina Kannada has been mushrooming at a brisk rate. The district administarion has to take immediate against this menace," said Kumar Malemar of Sri Ram Sene.
Addressing a press meet here on Wednesday, February 6 he raised concern over the recent suicide of Sneha, a drug victim, and demanded action against the drug mafia.
"Whenever there is an attack by the saffron outfits, some so-called intelligent people start protesting against their action, but where are they hiding when the drug mafia has taken the life of a girl?" he questioned.
"Earlier it was a girl by name Ashwitha and today it is Sneha who have lost their lives to drug menace. But the district administration has not yet made up its mind to take action against the drug mafia, as there is a strong political hand behind such incidents and that there is involvement of many political leaders and their close associates with the mafia," he alleged.
"Subash Padil and 37 others who fought against such menace are still behind bars (home stay attack). Some high-end restaurants and hotels like and malls and many others have been running illegal DJs and discotheques, which are the main hubs of drug mafia. Hence Sri Ram Sene highly condemns this," he said.
"If the district administration does not take strict action against drug menace, Sri Ram Sene is ready to fight the mafia in the coming days," he warned.
Jeevan Neermarga, Ganesh Attavar, Mahesh Bhat and Mohan Padavinangady were present.
