Mangalore: 25th Kevin Misquith and Milestone musical nite on Feb 10

Mangalore, Feb 6: Kevin Misquith, the young singer and composer is all set to present his 25th music nite ‘The 25th Kevin Misquith and Milestone Live in Concert’. Following in the footsteps of the great legends like Wilfy Rebimbus, Melwin Peris, Eric Ozario etc, Kevin Misquith has been the only, in the recent past and among the younger generation of Konkani musicians to have reached the milestone of 25 musical nites.
The 25th Kevin Misquith and Milestone Live in Concert will be held on the February 10 at St Agnes Special School grounds. The ICYM – Episcopal City Deanery has joined hands with Milestone to support and organize this grand event.
Apart from Kevin and band Milestone several other young and prolific performers will display their talents, Munita Veigas will join as the female vocalist. Pokri kalakar team will entertain by enacting the jokes, Nach Sobhann will accompany with the dances. Sheldon Crasta and Vernon D’souza will compere the event. Antony Cony and family, Doha Qatar has come forward to support Kevin and his team in their musical being the main sponsor ofthis 25th music nite.
This concert is innovatively scripted and definitely not to be missed by Konkani music lovers.
Kevin Misquith started off with his debut show held on 11th of February, 2007 at Don Bosco hall in Mangalore. Since then he has performed 24 musical nites. Apart from these 24 musical nites, he has also performed for major events like Konkani Mahoshtav – 2004, Monthly Theatre in Kalaangann - 2004, World Convention of Canara Catholic Christians – 2004, ICYM Diamond Jubilee Celebrations – 2007, Karnatak Sangeethostav Bangalore – 2007, First World Konkani Cultural Convention-Maand Sobhann-2010, VKWA Mumbai Maharastra-2012, KCWA Kuwait-2012, MCCP’s Utsav Muscat-2012, and KRYC Yuvajanostav-2012.
For the initial few years, Roshan D’Souza (Angelore) was providing the background music for his musical nites. In 2009, Kevin Misquith formed his own band ‘Milestone’ and it has been supporting the musical nites with the background music ever since. The band has also emerged as one of the best bands in the city, performing for various private and public events. Jackson Noronha, Clyde Lobo, Ashwin Sequeira, Rikith Soans, Royston Pinto and Sanjeeth Rodrigues presently work with Kevin as band Milestone. Kevin Misquith and Milestone together have performed in a number of events including quite a few performances to raise funds for several noble causes.
Kevin currently has 4 music album releases to his credit. He released his debut album ‘Rupnem’ in the year 2004. He was only 17 then, which adds to the credit that he is one among the youngest to have released a Konkani album. The songs from this album like Rupnem, Mog Kortham, Kaliz Bullam etc are still evergreen in the minds of Konkani music lovers. The success of this album made way for his subsequent releases – Tuji Yaad in 2007, Hee Jeen in 2008 and recently released super-hit album Thembe Thembe. The album ‘Hee Jeen’ came with some of the biggest hits like Kenna Kenna, Thuka Chintha Chinthana, Hee Jeen, Mojea Aanja etc.
‘Thembe Thembe’, his recently released album is undoubtedly the best among his albums. This album which was released across the world has gone forward to create a new record in sales in the recent history. The album contains some of his best compositions like Abolem, Thembe Thembe, Tu Munon, Khan Khan, Thovllem Kaliz and the list goes on. Each song in the album is a masterpiece and has struck a chord with many Konkani music lovers around the world.
Being an upcoming artist himself, Kevin Misquith has given opportunities to several other young talents to perform in his shows and albums.
Apart from his passion for music he has also been a youth activist and has served in several youth associations under various designations.
Kevin and his band has been creating ripples across the Konkani music world with their robust on-stage performances and passionate singing, this has won them a dedicated band of followers and admirers in Konkani music. “Milestone”, has certainly come a long way within a short period, to find a strong foothold in Konkani music world with their peppy music, which is full of life. Innovation has been the keystone of Kevin Misquith shows, who has succeeded in establishing a niche in the competitive contemporary Konkani music world by being ‘different’. This has worked wonders for the band which has been climbing the ladder of popularity in Konkani music circles for the sheer energy they exude in their music.
