Udupi, Feb 5: Sunitha Lobo from Manasa Rehabilitation and Training Center for Special Children has given her school, the district, and the state plenty to cheer about.
Sunitha and her team has won the gold in the girls’ floor hockey in the Special Olympics World Winter Games 2013 held in Pyeong Chang in South Korea.
Dr Edward Lobo, managing director, Manasa School, told Daijiworld that the school’s principal will personally go to Delhi to receive Sunitha on Thursday February 7.
Sr Thelma Louis, principal, Manasa School, said, “We are proud to have her in our school. Sunitha is a resident of Hanehalli village of Barkoor, but she stays in the hostel and practices on the school ground. Sunitha is one among the hard working differently-abled children. She has won many state and national-level floor hockey championships.”
In the Special Olympics World Winter Games, the Indian girls’ team won the gold medal while the boys’ team won silver. She was the sole representative from Karnataka.
“We will be back in Udupi on the morning of Saturday February 9 and as she stays in the hostel she will be coming directly to the School. I will be leaving tonight for Delhi,” added Sr Louis.
