Dammam-Mangalore direct flight to commence from March 31?

Mangalore, Feb 5: Daijiworld has reliably learnt from top sources in Air India Express, Mumbai that the much-awaited Dammam-Mangalore flight is set to commence from March 31, 2013.
Reliable sources said that Air India Express has already given the green signal for the flight operations.
The Dammam-Mangalore-Calicut flight will operate twice a week, with departure from Mangalore at 6 pm and arrival in Mangalore from Dammam at 3.30 am.
According to information available with daijiworld, the Airports Authority of India is yet to confirm the schedule. Once it gives the nod, the long-awaited dream of Mangaloreans to have a direct flight to Saudi Arabia will come true.
It may be recalled that Udupi-Chikmagalur MP Jayaprakash Hegde had taken the initiative to get a direct flight in this sector, and recently Karnataka NRI Forum convener Rajesh Sequeira along with former director of Mangalore International Airport M Vasudeva had held a press meet in Mangalore divulging their efforts on this front. Also, West Coast Forum, Saudi Arabia had collected passport numbers of 25,000 people from Saudi who wanted direct flight to Mangalore.
