Mangalore: Mandd Sobhann presents 'Santa Khursachye Kurven'

Mangalore, Feb 4: ‘Santa Khursachye Kurven’, a play based on the sufferings inflicted on Catholics and their places of worship by the soldiers of Tipu Sultan during the attack in 1784 AD, was presented as the 134th monthly theater of Mandd Sobhann, a premier organization engaged in the promotion and preservation of Konkani language and culture, on Sunday February 3.
It was staged at Noreen and Ronald Mendonca amphi-theatre at Kalaangann, Shaktinagar here.
The play, directed by John M Permannur and authored by Jo Cy Siddakatte, succeeded in bringing forth the travails of the ancestors and the determination with which they clung on to their language and culture, which can provide a lead to the present generation.
On this occasion, director of the play, John M Permannur, was felicitated by president of Mandd Sobhann, Stany Alvares.
Members of Mandd Sobhann, Arun Raj, Fr Pius James D’Souza, superior, Fr Deep Fernandes, Fr Joachim Rodrigues, Fr Alice D’Souza, Fr Walter D’Souza, Fr Prakash D’Souza, and many other dignitaries were present.
