Mangalore: Hundreds of students descend on SAC for mega 'Aloysian Fest'

Mangalore, Feb 1: The national-level 'Aloysian Fest 2013', encompassing fests of diverse streams was inaugurated at College premises on Friday February 1.
P Jayaram Bhat, managing director and CEO was the chief guest, K Anil, senior manager of Indian Overseas Bank was the guest of honor while Fr Joseph Ignatius Rodrigues, rector presided over the function.
The fest was inaugurated by P Jayaram Bhat by lighting lamp along with other dignitaries.
Speaking after inaugurating the fest, Jayaram Bhat recalling his younger days as a student of St Aloysius College said the Institution has grown to greater heights and stands as a giant institution in the country. "I am proud to be an Aloysian," he declared.
"The College has maintained the same level of discipline over the years and this can be clearly understood through this event. It is a prestige for Karnataka Bank to sponsor this mega event and be part of it," he said.
"As far as ability is concerned, do not lower your goals, instead raise your ability to achieve goals," he advised the students.
Principal Fr Swebert D’Silva in his address said that it gives a sense of satisfaction in organizing a programme which portrays the ideals of the College. "It is not enough if students excel academically, the fest is a way to train students and enable them to deal with people," he said.
"I feel proud of Aloysians when people say that they are committed to their work. The Institution is glad that our education system has had some affect, due to which many achievers have been produced," he added.
"I have a great admiration for this Institution and wherever we go, any part of the world, we find Aloysians holding good positions in society," said K Anil, "This institution shapes students and enables them to stand on their own," he lauded, wishing all success to the programme.
Fr Francis Almeida, vice principals – Ronald Pinto, John D’Silva, Judith Pinto, Dr Richard Gonsalves, coordinator, Narahari, registrar, Sanath Kumar Achar, president student council, Roger, secretary, Dimple, joint secretary among others were present.
Aloysian Fest Highlights
The Aloysian fest encompasses fests of diverse streams such as ‘Art Beat’, humanities fest; ‘Imprints’, science fest; ‘Spin-Out’, management fest; ‘ACME’, commerce fest; and ‘Astitva’, cultural fest for all streams.
The college has also introduced a new ‘Aloyisiad’, a sports fest at the inter-collegiate level.
As many as 25 colleges across the nation are participating in this three-day fest.
