Bangalore: Govt has hired spies to keep watch on Yeddy supporters - Shobha
Daijiworld Media Network – Bangalore (SP)
Bangalore, Jan 31: Former minister and close confidante of Yeddyurappa, Shobha Karandlaje, has alleged that the state government has been resorting to cheap politics by hiring spies to keep an eye on the moves of Yeddy supporters.
“The BJP government has no time or inclination to focus on regulating spiraling prices of rice and other commodities. It has been diverting its energy on spying on political rivals,” she said, indirectly targeting home minister, R Ashok.
Speaking to reporters here on Wednesday January 30, she charged the government of keeping a close watch on the moves of 12 legislators who resigned on Tuesday to join Karnataka Janata Party. She chided the government for designating the spies for political vendetta instead of sending them to find out godowns hoarding rice.
Shobha said that transfer of senior officials in a hurry was also smacks of far-reaching conspiracy hatched by the BJP government to weaken KJP. She expressed confidence that KJP, under the leadership of Yeddyurappa, will be voted to power in the state by the people, irrespective of the efforts of the state government to destabilize it.
She accused two national level leaders of bringing pressure on the Chief Minister to make concessions to Udupi Power Corporation Ltd in the matter of dues from the company to the government, without naming the leaders.
She was accompanied by former minister, C M Udasi.
Reacting to the charge, deputy chief minister, K S Eshwarappa, said that the CM has the absolute right to transfer IAS and IPS officers, and the discretionary powers of the CM cannot be questioned.
