Kasargod, Jan 29: The Kasaragod auditions of Yaya Ind-Ya Mayaya’ – the first All-India Konkani Dance Contest, were held at the Citi Hall, Kumbla recently.
Fr Marcel Saldanha, parish priest, Kumbla, and a promoter of Konkani arts and culture, announced the auditions open. Fr Vincent D’souza, Vicarvara of the Kasargod deanery was the chief guest.
The following emerged winners of the Kasaragod auditions and were selected to compete in the semi-finals to be held on May 18 at Mangalore –

Groups:
Team Kayyar
St John D’Britto Church, Narampady
Avil D’cruz, the leader and choreographer of Nach Sobhann and Vernon D’souza, the secretary of the Nach Sobhann team were the adjudicators. Louis Pinto was the final tabulator. Eric Ozario conducted the proceedings.
Lawrence D’souza, joint secretary of Mandd Sobhann, was the local co-ordinator, along with Raju, Kumbla and Rohan, Manjeshwar.
