Mangalore: St Aloysius College student drowns in Kunigal

Mangalore, Jan 28: In a tragic incident, a 21-year-old student of St Aloysius Evening College here drowned while he was swimming with his friends at Kunigal near Bangalore on Sunday January 27.

The deceased has been identified as Jagadish M (21).

Jagadish who hails from Kunigal was a final year BCom student at St Aloysius Evening College here in the city. He was residing with his aunt in Kadri, said sources.

As per the information obtained, as it was a government holiday, Jagadish left for his native place in Kunigal. On Sunday, he along with 4 of his friends from Kunigal went to a nearby pond for a swim where he drowned.

    It is indeed very unfortunate that Jagdish a promising student of St. Aloysius College should find a tragic end by getting drowned when he went for a swim with his friends in his home town in Kunigal.

    I join several others in offering my sincere sympathies to the family of this boy and particularly to the parents.

    Many young boys/students take life sas silly and go for swim. Do not know what to do when water current is in force. Never go for such places and end the life. May his soul rest in peace. We have many facts and previous stories of drawned cases, still people do not avoid it.

    It is not practical to wear life jackets while swimming. But they should keep floats ready so that others can safely save drowning people.
