Bantwal, Jan 28: In a shocking incident, a man allegedly killed his brother in a fit of rage near Vamadapadav, Punjalkatte police station limits on Saturday January 26.
The deceased has been identified as Narayan Bhat (61). Padmanabha Bhat and his wife Gopi are the accused. The brothers stayed in the same house.
As per the information obtained, Narayan Bhat used to constantly trouble his brother over a property dispute. As Narayan was unmarried, in 1991 he wrote all the property in his brother's name, based on the mutual understanding that he could use one room of the house to live in. But a few years back, Narayan changed his mind and asked a share in the property, and in this regard a complaint was also filed in Punjalkatte police station. A stay order was also passed from the court based on the complaint.
Padmanabha won the case in the court. Angered by this, Narayan used to frequently trouble Padmanabha and his family by locking the rooms, damaging property and so on.
On Saturday, an argument on the property issue arose between Narayan and Gopi. Narayan allegedly blocked her way when she tried to enter the kitchen. Shocked by this, Padmanabha in a fit of rage is said to have hit on his head. Narayan Bhat died on the spot due to heavy bleeding. Gopi fainted at the sight.
As Padmanabha has some difficulty in speaking, the incident came to light only later when his daughter enquired.
Punjalkatte circle inspector Bhaskar Rai and his team visited the spot and have registered the case.
