Madrid, Jan 27 (IANS): Celta Vigo and Real Sociedad drew 1-1 at Celta's Balaidos Stadium, a result which did little to help the home side climb away from the danger zone in the Spanish Primera Liga standings.
Although a point for Celta is possibly not a bad result considering they had to play for 40 minutes with a man less after Augusto Fernandez saw a controversial second yellow card for deliberate handball, reports Xinhua.
Celta opened the scoring after 32 minutes through Michael Khron-Dehli, but the visitors drew level thanks to Gorka Elustondo.
Levante needed a touch of fortune and a last minute own goal from Valladolid defender, Antonio Rukavina to defeat Valladolid 2-1.
Javier Baraja put Valladolid ahead after eight minutes, but Jose Barquero equalised with a free kick on the stroke of halftime. In a frantic closing to the game both sides had chances, but Rukalvina was unfortunate to see a low ball in the Valladolid area strike him and bounce into his own goal.
Zaragoza and Espanyol produced a dull 0-0 draw which probably helps Espanyol.
Meanwhile Valencia and Deportivo la Coruna ended the day with a thrilling game in Deportivo's Riazor Stadum.
Jonas Goncalves put Valencia ahead after less than a minute, but two goals from Riki turned the game in Deportivo's favour on the stroke of halftime.
Deportivo were reduced to ten men early in the second period as Silvio saw his second yellow on just 52 minutes.
The home side were forced to defend desperately, but Nelson Valdez levelled the score just after the hour and Ricardo Costa's 92nd minute header broke Deportivo's hearts and left them bottom of the table.
