Mangalore: Darrel Jeevan D'Souza Bags 'Yuvakiran' Award

Mangalore, Jan 24: Young talent Darrel Jeevan D'Souza has been chosen for the 'Yuvakiran-2012' Award in recognition of his contribution to the cause of Konkani language and literature.
The Award was instituted during 2011 by Samanvaya Mangalore and is sponsored by non-resident Indian couple, Mrs & Mr John A Karkala hailing from Karkala settled in the USA in order to promote Konkani language, literature and culture and to support young Konkani writers and artists. It includes a citation, a memento and cash prize.
Darrel, son of David D’Souza, a noted Konkani writer, hails from Vamanjoor. He has been writing from the young age of 12. He has a number of innovative articles to his credit along with a few short stories and poems. At present Darrel is doing his final year in LLB.
'Yuvakiran-2012' Award will be conferred on him on February 10 at Rosario Cathedral Hall, Mangalore.
