Mangalore, Jan 24: The district unit of Bharatiya Janata Party on Thursday January 24 held a protest against home minister Sushilkumar Shinde for accusing RSS and BJP of promoting 'Hindu terror’ and submitted a memorandum to DC demanding removal of Shinde from the post of home minister.
Addressing the protest held near DC office in the city, Nalin Kumar Kateel, MP, said, "Shinde is not in his right mind, he makes comments without thinking. In order to gain the confidence of voters he is trying to please everyone, including Congress party president Sonia Gandhi."
"He is betraying the Hindu community with such statements. Today the Congress is hurting the religious sentiments of Hindus. It is trying to impose a ban on RSS since the time of Jawaharlal Nehru," he said.
"Congress leaders have been restless since 1947 because of RSS and its pro-social works to Hindu society. Congress tried to sideline Hindu religion by hurting their sentiments and demolishing their temples," he lashed out.
"Congress is tarnishing the reputation of Hindu leaders like Kanchishree, Baba Ramdev and Bihar Swamiji; it is trying to make Tirupathi into church and creating chaos in the name of Sabarimala. When Mahatama Gandhi was killed Congress tried to impose ban on RSS. But Supreme Court proved RSS is a patriotic organization whose activists were ready to sacrifices their lives to the nation. RSS has established 33,000 schools and several other social work institutions. When Lal Bahudur Shastri was the Prime Minister of India, he allowed RSS to participate in the Republic Day parade. During the Indo-China war, RSS activists helped the soldiers at the border," Kateel said.
He also added, "Shinde does not know the contribution of RSS to this nation. It is the only patriotic organization in the country. Shinde does not know the Constitution and law of this nation. Even the Supreme Court has called RSS as patriotic."
"Congress is a terrorist party, and Shinde has links with Osama Bin Laden’s organization. Indira Gandhi promoted terrorism in the name of Khalistan and supported Bhindranwale (Sikh extremist)," he alleged.
"Congress supported Dawood Ibrahim. Supreme Court ordered death penalty to Afzal Guru but being home minister he could not carry out the order. Shinde is eyeing the post of the prime minister, hence he is trying to please Sonia Gandhi. Hence we demand Shinde's removal from the post of home minister," Kateel said.
BJP leader Padmanabha Kottari in his address said that Shinde makes clumsy statements on RSS and BJP which is wrong. "He should withdraw his statement on RSS. He is creating unnecessary communal unrest in the country," he said.
Captain Ganesh Karnik said that it is because of lack of responsibility on the part of UPA government that the barbaric Delhi gang-rape took place. "The government has failed to uphold its dignity. This (Shinde's statement) is an insult by the Congress government not only to Hindus but to the entire nation," he said.
Srikar Prabhu, Nitin Kumar, Amithakala, Rukmaya Poojary, Chandrahas Uchil, Chandrahasa Ullal, Umanath Kotian and several others were present.
