Udupi: Devotees throng Milagres Cathedral, Kallianpur for annual feast

Udupi, Jan 24: The annual feast of Our Lady of Miracles Church (Milagres Cathedral) at Kallianpur was celebrated on Tuesday January 22 and Wednesday January 23 with much joy and devotion.
This is the first feast of the Cathedral after Udupi Diocese came into existence.
Milagres parish priest Fr Stany B Tauro presented the blessed candles to pirgent Ignatius D’souza and Henry D’souza, children of Late Lazarus and Margaret Dsouza, Kote Road, Kallianpur and to parish council members, and other sponsors for the church development on Wednesday January 23.
Bishop of Udupi diocese Dr Gerald Issac Lobo presided over the grand festal Eucharistic celebrations along with Fr Stany B Lobo, parish priest of Milagres church, Fr Valerian Mendonca, Chancellor of Udupi diocese and Fr J B Sequeira Episcopal Vicar for Religious. Priests from deanery and outside the deanery were present.
The bishop in his homily highlighted that Mother Mary accepted the word of God, followed God’s words in her life, and hence she become a true mother for all.
“We have to follow Mother Mary and consider her has our role model in life and should lead our life according to God’s word”, he said.
Fr Uday Joseph Fernandes was the main celebrant of festal Eucharistic celebrations held here on Tuesday January 22 night. Fr Stany B Lobo, Fr Baptist Menezes, Vicar General of Udupi Diocese, Fr Valerian Mendonca Chancellor of Udupi Diocese, priests from the deanery and neighboring parishes also joined in the Eucharistic Celebrations.
Fr Uday in his homily reflected on the God's word and said that reading the Bible is like speaking to God. He said, "Elders have strengthened our faith in God. When something obstructs our faith in God, it weakens. When we attend mass we have to read, listen and then implement the word of God in our daily life.
Milagres Cathedral parish priest Fr Stany Lobo thanked all the donors who supported the annual feast celebrations. Fr Stany delivered special thanks to the parish council vice-president, secretary, and all the members for their contribution towards the church.

Confraternity (Corpus Christi) Sunday was celebrated early on Sunday January 20 on the occasion of annual feast preparations.
