M'lore: St Antony's Jacobite Syrian Church annual feast from Jan 24-26

Mangalore, Jan 23: The annual feast of St Antony will be celebrated at St Antony’s Jacobite Syrian Church from Thursday January 24 to Saturday January 26, said A C Jayaraj, secretary commander, Jacobite Syrian Church, Jeppu.

Addressing a press meet here on Wednesday January 23 he said on Thursday the evening prayer will be held at 6 pm followed by meditation. A retreat for couples will be held on January 25 from 9:30 am to 1 pm.

On the same evening there will be meditation from 6 pm to 9 pm. On Saturday, the Holy Mass of Five Alters (Penta Mass) will begin at 8 am followed by the intercessory prayers to the saints and the traditional procession. The feast will end with lunch.

This year the feast will be led by H G Zacharias Mor Philaxinos, Gregorian Centre, Thuthootty, Kottayam and H G Yacob Mor Anthoniose, Honnavar Mission. The Choir of “Syrian Melodies” will assist in the songs of the holy Mass and the melodies.

Along with the annual feast, the Syrian Church plans to build houses for the poor, give scholarship for the financially backward students, provide food etc. On the feast days the believers in Christ have the opportunity to be in the church prayerfully and give their offerings to the lord, he said.

Vicar Fr Philip Vaidyan and K J Valsan, publicity convenor were also present.
