Mangalore, Jan 22: Rotary International District-3180 will hold its annual district conference ‘Shanthi Milana’ from January 25 to 27 at Dr TMA Pai International Convention Hall, said district governor of Rotary Rtn Dr B Devadas Rai.
Addressing a press meet here on Tuesday January 22, he said on January 25 the office-bearers of Rotary International will arrive for the meeting. The theme of the conference will be ‘Peace through service’.
He also added that Rtn K R Ravindran, former director of rotary international and Sri Lanka based industrialist will formally inaugurate the conference on January 26 at 9 pm. Rotary International president’s special representative in India PDG Rtn Kamal Sanghvi will be the chief guest, Kerala-based consultant Vijay Menon will deliver keynote address, Dr santhosh Kumar Guruji will deliver the guest lecture. Humorist Gangavathi Pranesh will entertain the gathering.
Former union labour secretary Dr P D Shenoy will present a talk on 'Medical Negligence’ on the occasion.
On January 25 at 6 pm a cultural event will be inaugurated by chairman of Alva's Education Foundation Dr Mohan Alva and well-known music director Gurukiran.
Devadas Rai also said that Rotary International District-3180 has implemented social welfare assistance programme like Student Parent Insurance Scheme, integrated community development focusing on solar electric light, rainwater harvesting, sanitation, beneficiary farming practice and self-help groups, organized support programmes of providing books, footwear, uniform, computer literacy, and Rotary Jeeva Sanjivini which includes mental health checkup camps and cancer detection.
Rtn M V Mallya, Rtn Satish Pai, Rtn CA Ram Mohan Rai were present on the occasion.
