Udupi: Bus smashes into Omni near Irodi - one dead, four injured

Udupi, Jan 20: One person was killed and four others injured when a bus rammed into a Maruti Omni near Irodi telephone exchange on NH 66 here on Sunday January 20.
The deceased has been identified as Naveenchandra (38), a resident of Kundapur.
The bus plying from Brahmavar to Kundapur rammed into the Omni which was moving towards Udupi from Kundapur.
Vimalesh Shet, Varadaraj Kharvi, Manohar Jogi and Santosh Kharvi who were in the Omni were injured. They have been admitted to Manipal hospital.
A few passengers who were in the bus sustained minor injuries and were taken to a private hospital in Brahmavar.
Naveenchandra is survived by his wife and a daughter.
Kota police station officer Ashok P visited the spot. Locals Vittal Poojary, Prashanth Shetty, Karkada Achutha Poojary and others helped in shifting the injured to hospital.
