Dubai, Jan 19: Gammath Kalavidaru, a group of amateur theatre artistes from Dubai presented 'Porlu Thoovade' a socio-comedy drama at Emirates Theatre, Jumeira here on Friday January 18.
The play, staged in special support of Spoorthidhama, Kundapur generated Rs 5 lac. The amount was handed over to the convener and founder of Spoorthdhama Keshav Koteshwar.
Prior to the play, a stage programe was held to felicitate guests, sponsors and achievers.
Sarvotham Shetty compere the stage programme with his as usual wit and humour. Harish Bangera, the main sponsor of the event, Praveen Shetty of Fortune Group of Hotels, Harish Sherigar of ACME, Shekhar Shetty of Arab Udupi, Walter Nandalike of Daijiworld, Herman Lewis of radio spice, Keshav Koteshwar, playwright G Bolur and others were present on stage.
Suvarna Satish, a verstile stage artiste and Billawa community leader was specially hounored along with with her equaly talented husband, community leader Satish Poojary. Suvarna remembered the late Umesh Nanthoor for identifying her acting talent and acknowledged the support of her husband and family members.
Porlu Thoovade playwright G Boloor was also honoured during the event.
Keshav koteshwar and Pramila Koteshwar of Spoorthidhama were specially honoured for thier dedicated service to society. Keshav in his thanksgiving note expressed his gratutude to Praveen Shetty of Fortune Group of Hotels for bringing him to Dubai and supporting Spoorthidhama financially. Generous contributors and associations like Bunts-UAE, Billawa Balaga-Abu Dhabi and Karnataka Sangha-Abu Dhabi pledged their contribution to Spoorthidhama.
Harish Sherigar and Preema presented Kannada and Tulu numbers that entertained the audience.
'Porlu Thoovade' play featuring talented artistes from UAE won the hearts of the audience. The play was directed by Vishwanath Shetty who also played the lead role.
Kethan D'Souza provided music and Prasad managed the sound effects that added to the brilliance of the play.
The artistes who acted in the play are Asha Correa, Vasu Shetty, Chidananda Poojary, Laveena Fernandes, Shashi Shetty, Kiran Shetty, Ganesh Kotian, R M Shetty, Deepak S P, Dony Correa, Rajesh Bayar, Nitin Kumar, Rajesh Kutthar, Santosh Poojary, Sunil Suvarna, Suvarna Poojary, Jagath Pal, Satish Ullal and others.
