Udupi: 'Yaya Ind-Ya Mayaya' Auditions Get Good Response

Udupi, Jan 16: The auditions of ‘Yaya Ind-Ya Mayaya’ – the first All-India Konkani dance contest was recently conducted at Rabindra Mantap Hall, MGM College here.
The contest was keen and the best two duets and two groups qualified for the semi-finals to be held on May 18, 2013, at Kalaangann, Mangalore.
Top two duets:
Annie Melinda D’Souza and Sathwik Shetty S
Rovina Rodrigues and Akhil Kumar
Top two groups:
Gladiators, Kaup
Sagar Guys, Kukkikatte
Rami Nair, Bangalore, Pramod Alva, Mangalore, Avil D’Cruz of Nach Sobhann were the jugdes.
The highlight of the contest was that more than 75 percent of the contestants were non-Konkanis.
The auditions were declared open by Vincent Alva, lecturer and popular MC, who applauded the four organizations for conducting the contest and providing good opportunity to the youth of Udupi district.
Eric Ozario, Gurkar, Mandd Sobhann, conducted the proceedings and Louis Pinto, ex-president of Mandd Sobhann, was the chief tabulator.
Stany Alvares, Mandd Sobhann president, Rony Arun, treasurer, Mandd Sobhann, Vernon D’souza, secretary, Nach Sobhann were also present.
Pranitha Pinto, member, Nach Sobhann, handled registration.
