Rome, Jan 16 (IANS): Inter Milan scored a last-gasp winner in extra time to beat Bologna 3-2 and reach the semifinals of Coppa Italia football tournament.
Inter defender Andrea Ranocchia headed in the decisive goal seconds before the end of extra time to give the Italian giants a narrow win Tuesday, reports Xinhua.
Fredy Guarin put Inter 1-0 ahead in the 34th minute, and Rodrigo Palacio doubled their lead in the 78th minute.
But Bologna refused to give in and battled back to regain parity through Alessandro Diamanti and Alberto Gilardino in the dying minutes of the second half.
With a penalty shootout looming large, Ranocchia headed in the winner from a corner.
In the semis, Inter will meet either Roma or Fiorentina. Juventus and Lazio will play against each other in the other semifinal.
