Mangalore, Jan 16: The membership campaign for the NSUI has been in progress from the last 6 months. More than 2000 students from various colleges of the district are members of the NSUI.
The election was held under the leadership of the election officer appointed for the purpose and as per the guidelines and regulations of the NSUI elections commission.
The person who received the highest votes has been declared as the president. Ashith Periera, the president of SDM Law Students Association has been elected as the president of the NSUI DK Dist. He received nearly 60% of the total vote.
Ashfak M M, Manmohan Joise, Shayini V P and Anvitha Periera have been elected as vice presidents. Milan Attavar, Carlton Lasrado, Deekshith Attavar, and Krishna Rai have been elected as the chief secretaries. Irshad N G, Pranam Shanubagh, Nithin Kumar Shetty and Sobhia have been elected as the secretaries.
District Congress president Ramanath Rai; KPCC Secretary Ivan D’Souza; District Youth Congress president, Mithun Rai; South legislative assembly president, Praveen Chandra Alva; Chief Secretary Meril Rego and other leaders rendered their best wishes to the newly elected president and the representatives.
A victory procession was held, that began from Jyothi Circle and culminated in Valencia, via Kankanady. Members and wellwishers were present in large number.
M Veerappa Moily, Central minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas met the elected president and representatives personally and rendered his best wishes.
