It is said that the police have arrested four persons who took contract to kill Adiga. They were rounded up from Adugodi near Bangalore, sources said.
The four accused were paid Rs 25 lac by three of Adiga's enemies, it is said.
Police teams of various districts are working together to solve the mystery behind Adiga's death and have so far achieved some success in tracing the culprits, it is learnt. The police also found a few clues soon after the recovery of the body, and a few suspects are under the scanner. The special investigation team has stumbled upon vital information and detained a few persons for questioning, it is learnt. However, the police have refused to divulge further details.
Adiga's murder has raised several questions about the safety of RTI activists in the state. Social activists in the coastal region have raised concerns over whether the government will effectively probe the death of a person who was engaged in exposing its own departments and officials. Time has come for social activists to join hands and debate the issue concerning their safety, they say.
