Mangalore: Fire Breaks Out in Building at K S Rao Road, 8 Rescued

Mangalore, Jan 15: Fire broke out at Krishna Prasad building at K S Rao Road here on Tuesday January 15.
The cause of the fire is said to be short circuit in the electricity meters installed the building.
Four fire tenders rushed to the spot and successfully doused the fire.
The building comprises offices of people from different occupations, including lawyers, banks and commercial establishments. The electricity meters of all the offices is housed in a single room in the lower floor, and it is here that the fire broke out.
Sources in the fire department told Daijiworld that eight persons were trapped in the thick smoke that filled the building. All eight were rescued by the fire fighters.
No injury was reported in the incident, however, cables and other items were charred.
The extent of the damage is yet to be ascertained.
Traffic in the area was affected for some time due to the incident.
